Is Laser Hair Removal Treatment Harmful?
With every treatment, the benefits need to outweigh the risks and for many, laser hair removal treatment is worth it. That does not answer the question of if they are harmful or not. So, are they harmful? The answer to this is No. The FDA has approved laser hair removal as a safe alternative to shaving, waxing or electrolysis.
During the treatments, your eyes can be covered with goggles to prevent them from the light from the laser. You will feel a slight stinging sensation during the procedure itself, but you can take a mild pain reliever to minimize any discomfort you may feel. The procedure may take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours depending on the area being treated and afterwards, you may feel tenderness or swelling which is normal and not harmful. It will dissipate shortly after the treatments.
These permanent hair removal treatments will not affect your life since you can go back to your normal return immediately as long as you avoid direct sun exposure and use sunscreen with a high SPF. It is also advised that you avoid exercise and strenuous activity for the first 24 hours so you do not sweat and cause irritation of the hair or treated areas. Overall, these treatments are not harmful and are quite beneficial in the long run.
